But there is so much more to the story.

From Show Flyers to Publishing Powerhouse. My journey into publishing didn’t start in a classroom or a corporate office—it started in the underground music scene. I was just another crust punk, a metalhead with no formal skills, just trying to scrape together some cash for food. My entry into the creative world began with making $15 show flyers for local bands. That small hustle sparked something bigger.

As I got deeper into the scene, I picked up guerrilla marketing tactics from the shows I helped promote. I started booking gigs, supporting artists, and learning the ins and outs of DIY music promotion. But one thing was in constant demand: press coverage. Bands needed exposure, and there weren’t enough platforms giving them a voice.

So, I built one.

I launched Super Happy Death Cult, a blog dedicated to indie and underground artists. It quickly gained traction—everyone wanted an interview. But popularity doesn’t always pay the bills, so I pivoted. I shut down the blog so i could focus completely on a new zine I named Clout Culture and before I knew it, that zine had evolved into a full-fledged magazine with a dedicated community and customer base.

Where We Are Now: A New Chapter

Fast forward to today: I’m fully immersed in the entrepreneurial lifestyle, running multiple projects in independent publishing while finally starting to take my own music career seriously. No longer just a hobbyist, I’m starting fresh as a rookie musician in this modern competitive industry, learning the ropes from the ground up and cataloging it all here for other artists with a similar mission! When the musician side of my career picks up more momentum I fully plan on signing and marketing other musicians as well as bands. Until then, there is much to learn.

This newsletter is where I’ll document the journey—sharing insights, mistakes, and victories for anyone on a similar path. It’s also a hub for all things Illumignarly, a place where all my startup projects come together, and where you, the community, can stay in the loop.
